FOSL membership

Please remember that you need to renew your membership each year.  If you haven't paid since January, you are not currently a member.  Please be sure to renew your membership.  You can email kgfosl@gmail.com for a membership form or you can get a form from a volunteer in the FOSL store.  Your membership gets you half off, all year, in the FOSL store, except on fundraising items.


FOSL Book Club

The next meeting of the FOSL Book Club will be April 20th at 6pm.  We will be discussing Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline.  All are invited.  We will meet in the conference room.

Local Author Coming...

V.V. Wedding will be coming to Smoot Library on Feb. 23rd at 6pm to discuss her book, An Uncivilized Yankee, with the FOSL Book Club.  All are invited to attend!  Vanessa will be bringing some of her other books for anyone to purchase.  Refreshments will be served.

Our Chili dinner went well on Friday.  Thank you to all who donated items, came out to support us, or donated money.

Chili Dinner

Chili dinner at L.E. Smoot Memorial Library on February 6, 2015 from 6pm-7:30pm.  All are invited.  

Tickets on sale for $15/adult, $5/child.  

Tickets available at Smoot Circulation desk, FOSL store, FOSL Board members, or Smoot Board of Trustees.

Current FOSL members receive $5 off each adult ticket purchased.  FOSL members also receive half-off in the FOSL store, except on fundraising items.

Donations needed:
bags of lettuce - 6
cherry tomatoes - 3 large pkg
shredded carrots - 3 bags
cucumbers - 3 large
bottles of salad dressing - 2 each: Ranch, Italian, Thousand Island, French
32 oz. bags of shredded cheese - 4
large containers of sour cream - 4
chopped red onion - 3
large hot sauce - 1
hotdogs - 80= 10 pkgs
hotdog buns -80=10 pkgs 8 pkgs
large mustard - 1
large ketchup - 1
large mayo - 1
desserts (for ex. brownies, cupcakes, cookies)
cornbread
crackers - oyster, saltines

Happy New Year! Upcoming events

Happy New Year to all!

FOSL store shoppers - thanks for a wonderful year!  Remember that in 2015 if you are a FOSL member, all your shopping at the store is half off all year except for fundraisers!

FOSL Book Club members - thanks for a great first year.  Our plan for this year so far is:

    An Uncivilized Yankee by VV Wedding for February (the author is planning to join us February 23 at 6pm)

Chili dinner - February 6th from 6:00-7:30pm

Next Book Sale

Bag Sale
Get half off items in the store - renew your Friends membership for this offer

Our next book sale will be Dec. 18th from 1-6:30pm at the FOSL Store.  This will be a bag sale - fill a bag for $5.

We have gently used books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, etc.  These would make wonderful stocking stuffers or gifts! 

We have two fundraisers that are also wonderful gifts:
     Attractions Book 2015 for $25  (book full of coupons, many are BOGO)
        Reading pins for $15

If you become a member of the Friends, or renew your membership for 2015, you will receive a membership card that will get you half off anything in the FOSL Store except our fundraisers!

We have volunteers manning the store on Tuesdays from 4-7pm and Thursdays from 1-4pm.  Please stop by to shop and renew your membership to get half off.  Present this membership card each visit for half off.

Why:  Come learn to create a mailing list.  You will then learn a mail merge to create mailing labels and holiday form letters.

FOSL Book Club news

The FOSL Book Club met on Aug. 26 to discuss The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan.

September's book will be The Life List by Lori Spielman and the meeting will be Monday, Sept 15 at 6pm.

October's book will be Spying in High Heels by Gemma Halliday and the meeting will be Monday, Oct. 20 at 6pm.

November's book will be Low Country Boil by Susan Boyer and the meeting will be Monday, Nov. 17 at 6pm.

All are welcome to come and join the fun!
