Next Book Sale

Bag Sale
Get half off items in the store - renew your Friends membership for this offer

Our next book sale will be Dec. 18th from 1-6:30pm at the FOSL Store.  This will be a bag sale - fill a bag for $5.

We have gently used books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, etc.  These would make wonderful stocking stuffers or gifts!

We have two fundraisers that are also wonderful gifts:
Attractions Book 2015 for $25  (book full of coupons, many are BOGO)
        Reading pins for $15

If you become a member of the Friends, or renew your membership for 2015, you will receive a membership card that will get you half off anything in the FOSL Store except our fundraisers!

We have volunteers manning the store on Tuesdays from 4-7pm and Thursdays from 1-4pm.  Please stop by to shop and renew your membership to get half off.  Present this membership card each visit for half off.

If you are interested in manning the store, please email kgfosl@gmail.com and let us know a day and time that works for you.  Thank you in advance!

End of an Era

Unique House Antiques on Rte 301 has generously allowed the Friends to sell books in Booth 92 since 2010.  Unique House has been sold and is becoming Unique Antiques.  The new owner wants to concentrate on antiques and furniture, so the FOSL booth has to close before the end of June.

All books, CDs. DVDs, and Videos must be sold:  Great prices!

25 cents or 5/$1.00

Please be sure to come and get some bargains.

There are two medium height bookshelves that we are selling for $20/each.  You won't be able to pick them up until we pack up the remaining books.

Thanks very much to Mr. and Mrs. Preston House who gave us the space to have Booth 92 for free.  Their generosity allowed the Friends to keep a bookstore open while the library was at the old KG Middle School during construction of the addition.

Nominating Committee looking for 2 positions

The Nominating Committee for FOSL is looking for 2 members to fill 2 open FOSL Board positions.  We are looking for a Vice-President and a Treasurer.  If you are interested in either position or want to nominate someone for one of these positions, please email kgfosl@gmail.com or call Kathy Carr at 540-273-1416.

Meetings will be quarterly for this next year.  The Vice-President is responsible for executing the responsibilities of the President in their absence.  The Treasurer collects and disburses all funds, maintains financial records, maintains a Friends bank account, provides a yearly financial report to the membership at the annual meeting.  The Treasurer signs all checks as approved by the President and the Executive Board up to $1,000; all expenditures over $1,000 require the signature of the Treasurer and the President.

In order to keep the Friends of Smoot Library providing funds for library functions, we really need new members to step forward and help with filling these positions.  PLEASE consider helping out.
